My birthday and some big baby news

Wednesday we celebrated my 35th birthday.  Brig and Owen gave me a Kindle!  I have wanted one for a long time and couldn't have been happier.  Before I opened it, Owen told me it was a book.  He has a habit of spilling the beans right before the surprise is revealed, but I didn't care.  I went to work that day (more on that in a sec) but that night we went to dinner at Vickery's, which is one of my faves.

Owen was really good and ate all most of his dinner so I took him down to the dock.  It was fun for both of us, b/c I got to have a quick photo session.  The late afternoon light there is awesome...now if I could just get him to stop squinting!  He has become much more cooperative when I ask him to stop for a picture.  Sometimes, usually when he's dancing, he asks us to take his pic.

So...earlier I said I went to work on my birthday, which isn't a big deal to me.  I would have liked to take off just b/c it happened to be Owen's last day of school.  But...Owen's school carnival was the next day and so was our appt to find out the gender of the new baby.  I scheduled it that morning on purpose so Owen could find out right along with us.  He was a little nervous, even though we tried to prep him for what was going to happen.  Sidenote:  He's very interested in how the doctor will deliver the baby and asks Brig every night just to make sure.  It's much easier to explain that they will just open mommy's tummy and take the baby out.  We get to skip explaining how some other babies are delivered...:)

We got to the ultrasound place and Owen did not want to get out the car.  We walked in and he almost burst into tears.  I really think he was confused and thought they were actually going to open Brig up even though I kept telling him they would just take a "remote control" and put it on her belly.  I told him he didn't have to watch the tv if he didn't want to, and he just played with toys on the floor.  I guess he glanced over and saw the baby on the screen and changed his tune pretty quick.  From then on he was just as interested as we were.

Since he is a three-year-old boy who is very enamored with his own parts, he was thrilled when the lady announced the baby had boy parts too!  We thought it would be fun to have one of each, but we know what to do with boys and have kept every single thing that Owen has every worn.  We won't need a single thing, except for formula and diapers.
