Bad Blogger

So...I have been a bad blogger. Not making excuses, but we were all sick last week and the camera battery is currently dead. Okay, so those are excuses. I do have some fun video coming up though. Owen has not stopped doing unbelievably cute things to entertain us. In fact, we have to pinch ourselves on a weekly basis to make sure we are living a reality. I don't know what we did to deserve this child, but we are so grateful. He makes us smile constantly, even if he's doing something he shouldn't. He already knows how to work us, and daddy is working on keeping a straight face while telling him "no". He has started to repeat everything we say with great clarity. And he has also been saying a few multi-syllabic (is that right English majors?) words like "tractor", "Mickey Mouse" and "book bag". Yesterday when I asked (and I already knew the answer) if he had a "poopie" diaper, he went into his room and put his arms up to the changing table. Then he kept saying "poop" for the next few minutes. Hey, don't judge! If he can tell us he needs to be changed, we are one step closer to potty training.

Hopefully we will be back up and running with new pics/video in a few days.

The Seal and the Frog

We've had both of these fun water toys for some time, but we finally had the opportunity to pull them out this afternoon. Well, that is before it got cloudy and started to thunder. Owen was having fun with his frog pool...

and also wanted to play with this inflatable seal...

until he realized water shot out of its nose. If we had the time to jump in there with him, I think he would take a liking to the sprinkler action. I also have a pressure valve on the other end of the hose so we can adjust how much water comes out. Of course Daddy wants it full blast, but maybe we should take it down a few notches for now.

Typical weekend morning

During the week I am up and out the door before Owen or the sun rises. On the weekends we get to sleep until 7:30-7:45 and Brig always hears him first. I am just rolling over when she brings him into our room for some family playtime on the bed.

When he was much smaller and couldn't roll over, much less stand and walk, he would snuggle with us for a few minutes. He still does, but only for a split second before he is up and bouncing...and falling on purpose. Which, by the way, is one of his new favorite activities. He is also very interested in this massive thing above our headboard. Even though it weighs roughly 35 lbs, I have it hung with this hook that can hold 100 lbs just in case. We still would prefer if he didn't touch it, so when he starts to climb up there we know we need to move on to breakfast.

And yes, sometimes Crash and Milo join in on the fun. On this particular day they were more interested in sleeping another 20 minutes.

Super Slide

Grammie and Papa (my parents) bought Owen a slide and he can't get enough! We can only pull it out when we have plenty of time b/c he goes over and over again. At first, he would try to climb back up the slide (as most kids try to do) but we corrected this safety violation and make him go around the back. Coincidentally, "back" is one of his new words from last week. He can almost climb up by himself, but when he gets to the top it gets a little tricky. We help him to sit and then he takes off.

Wheeeee! Just havin' fun...

Messy Me

Owen is normally not a messy eater, but he was really into his spaghetti the other night. And then got upset when we tried to clean him up.

One Dog at a Time

If you have ever loved a dog, rescue or otherwise, please check out this link and donate if you can. Owen sure loves his two rescued brothers from other mothers. Thanks to Erika at Urban Grace for spreading the word!
