New Wagon

Owen also got a wagon for Christmas, which we've already used several times. He loves trolling the hood showing off his new ride....two miles an hour so everybody sees him.

First Christmas

It was love at first sight for Owen and his lion. We call him Leo, just like every other lion we have. Hope he doesn't grow up thinking all lions are called Leo.

This is my shopping cart that I love to load and unload. I actually ended up with three of these types of "walk-behind" toys, so one is at home, and the other two are with each of the grandparents.

Here are a few more pics from our Christmas/9 month session...amateur Christmas pics coming soon.

Headbanger

Owen really likes to play with (translation...bang on) the CD player in his room. This morning I turned it to radio and Metallica was on. My first instinct was to change the station, but he started dancing so I left it and pulled out the video camera.

Rudolph, is that you?

The weather outside was frightful....on Saturday night...tonight, not so much. We braved the conditions to go to something called Hollyfest in downtown Sville. I don't know if most of the festivities were held during the day, but nothing was happening after 5:00 even though it was advertised until 8:00. At least it made for a nice "winter" photo op with our lil' reindeer.

Even though Rudy was bundled up...long sleeves, pants, socks, reindeer fleece jumpsuit with feet and hood, gloves and a fleece blanket....we were worried he might have been too cold. Not a chance! When we got home and started peeling off the layers he was nice and toasty. That's our sweaty little man. It may have something to do with the extra fluff he carries around.

Eatin' and Drinkin'

At Owen's 9 month appt the doc gave us the go ahead to start feeding him three times a day. I was worried he would be starving since we were cutting out an entire bottle. He hasn't noticed, but it's probably b/c he's getting another jar of food every day. Oh...he's also eating jars of food with meat. I don't know about you, but the thought of eating meat in a jar grosses me out. It's just not right. We held out as long as possible.

He's also learning to use a sippy cup and feed himself puffs. At first he just wanted us to put them in his mouth. That only lasted a day and now he just dives right in. Although he is at a really fun stage, and we don't want him to grow up too fast, I will admit we're counting down the days of formula. Only 11 more weeks to go! Bring on the whole milk.

Trimming the Tree round #2

We stayed up late last night to finally decorate the tree. When Owen got up this morning (at 8:00 thank goodness) he was in awe. He still doesn't want to touch it (again, grateful) but he does point at the ornaments and likes looking at them up close. Notice there aren't any too close to the bottom.

9 months

Owen had his 9 month doctor visit today. He's doing great despite the fact that he's still toothless. Here are his stats:

Height - 29 1/4"
Weight - 25 lbs. 10 oz

I realize that one day Owen will not be pleased that I posted these, but they were too funny. Nobody stops feeding baby, even when daddy calls mommy. This is completely fake by the way. He can turn it on and off like a switch.

Trimming the tree

This being our first Christmas with a child, we didn't know how Owen would react to the tree. We intended to do our decorating last weekend. Well...at least the tree is in the house. We haven't found the time to actually do anything else. Our theory is that Owen can't see us putting pretty things on the tree because he will think he can touch it too. And at night we are too exhausted to pull out the all the boxes of stuff.

So far, he just crawls by it and puts out his hand. We tell him no, and so far he's only touched it once. But the good thing is it's fake, so it's kind of prickly. He didn't like the way it felt. And anytime he goes for a ball under or near the tree and a branch barely touches his head, he gets away as fast as possible. We'll see how he does once there are sparkly things hanging from it...fingers crossed.

On the hunt

Owen crawls at the speed of light when he wants something. Today he wanted Crash, but I don't think the feeling was mutual.

And then we head to the disco...

So Fake

Owen has decided he doesn't like the orange light (I'm assuming it's for red-eye purposes) that comes on when the camera is auto-focusing. So...he squints and attempts a fake smile. Below are two instances of this sad attempt at a smile...

Happy (belated) Turkey Day!

Playing right before bedtime

Warm and Cozy

Standin' and Cruisin'

Owen has been standing at the couch for a while...but now he's "cruising" back and forth. He's also moving from one piece of furniture to the next.

And this is what we see every morning...he just stands there for a good 30 minutes talking until he becomes impatient and starts talking louder.

Day at the park

Okay...so I haven't posted in a while. We were in Disney World for five days while Brigette attended a conference. These are some pics of Owen in the park a few weeks back.
