Stuff Owen says

This morning Owen asked to watch "one of his shows".  I asked him to name one of them and he wouldn't. I proceeded to ask him if he watched certain shows that he is not allowed to watch for various reasons.

I said, "Do you watch Phineas and Ferb?"
O:  "No."
Me: "Okay, do you watch SpongeBob?"
O: "No."
Me: "What about Barney, the purple dinosaur?"
O: "No, I haven't watched that in 10 years."

My birthday and some big baby news

Wednesday we celebrated my 35th birthday.  Brig and Owen gave me a Kindle!  I have wanted one for a long time and couldn't have been happier.  Before I opened it, Owen told me it was a book.  He has a habit of spilling the beans right before the surprise is revealed, but I didn't care.  I went to work that day (more on that in a sec) but that night we went to dinner at Vickery's, which is one of my faves.

Owen was really good and ate all most of his dinner so I took him down to the dock.  It was fun for both of us, b/c I got to have a quick photo session.  The late afternoon light there is awesome...now if I could just get him to stop squinting!  He has become much more cooperative when I ask him to stop for a picture.  Sometimes, usually when he's dancing, he asks us to take his pic.

So...earlier I said I went to work on my birthday, which isn't a big deal to me.  I would have liked to take off just b/c it happened to be Owen's last day of school.  But...Owen's school carnival was the next day and so was our appt to find out the gender of the new baby.  I scheduled it that morning on purpose so Owen could find out right along with us.  He was a little nervous, even though we tried to prep him for what was going to happen.  Sidenote:  He's very interested in how the doctor will deliver the baby and asks Brig every night just to make sure.  It's much easier to explain that they will just open mommy's tummy and take the baby out.  We get to skip explaining how some other babies are delivered...:)

We got to the ultrasound place and Owen did not want to get out the car.  We walked in and he almost burst into tears.  I really think he was confused and thought they were actually going to open Brig up even though I kept telling him they would just take a "remote control" and put it on her belly.  I told him he didn't have to watch the tv if he didn't want to, and he just played with toys on the floor.  I guess he glanced over and saw the baby on the screen and changed his tune pretty quick.  From then on he was just as interested as we were.

Since he is a three-year-old boy who is very enamored with his own parts, he was thrilled when the lady announced the baby had boy parts too!  We thought it would be fun to have one of each, but we know what to do with boys and have kept every single thing that Owen has every worn.  We won't need a single thing, except for formula and diapers.

Water Day

Owen had water day at school on Friday.  I don't have any pics of that, but the water fun continued this weekend.

Even though I demo'd how to properly use a slip-n-slide (sorry, no pics again!), Owen was still cautious and decided to crawl his way down.  As I'm writing this, I finally realized why my ribs have been sore for three days.  I probably haven't done that in 25 years.

Today was movie day at school, and after 100 questions, we finally figured out they watched "a spider movie where she eats flies, and there was a pig named Wilbur".  Hmmm...what could it have been?  Only one more day and then the end-of-the-year carnival.  Owen will be a "tiger" next year and he will be more than happy to tell you that.

Dylan's Birthday Party

Two weekends ago, we went to Dylan's third birthday party.  As usual, Owen had a blast...even though he fell off the swing and slid in some mud and landed on his rump.  He will not be wearing flip-flops to a playground again, especially after a good rain.

Like father, like son

Or maybe it's the other way around.  Owen was pretending to fly around like Batman, stopped and started looking threw his View-Master.  Later, Brig caught me laying on the couch, also looking through the View-Master.  What can I say, I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

Your attention please

Although most everyone already knows this, we are having baby numero dos.

Brigette is officially past the first trimester, and what a trimester it was!  She was much sicker with Owen, but we didn't have Owen when she was sick the first time.  It has definitely been an interesting couple of months, and that's all I'm gonna say...:)

Now that she is past this milestone, I feel comfortable talking about it on the blog.  We waited to tell Owen until we were ready to tell our families, b/c we knew he would spill the beans.  At first he just looked at us with a big grin on his face.  I don't think he really understood what he just heard.  Now that Brigette is showing some physical signs, he likes to kiss her tummy and says he is kissing the baby.  He wants a brother but thinks it's going to be a girl.  We find out in June and Brig is due in October.

Easter weekend 2011

I'm late posting these...Brig and I had a stomach bug last week that completely threw me off my game.

Egg Hunt

We dyed our eggs outside...on a box...redneck or genius?

We found a few minutes to pull out the sprinkler...Owen was excited until I turned it on...
