Chasing Bubbles

After a rainy few days, it was nice to see the sun out today. This morning Owen and I went for another bike ride. We went around the 'hood a few times and he actually asked to "get down". Later on we went out back with bubbles in hand. Owen chased them around the yard for a while. Once the bugs started biting we headed back inside. This kid wants to be outside more and more. We can't wait for the weather to start cooperating.

First Bike Ride

You may remember this bike helmet from an earlier post. We've had it for quite a while, but never used it (for it's intended purpose) until this afternoon. I also did some research and found Owen a bike seat. He sits in front of me, really almost in my lap, instead of looking at my back. After dinner and a brief rain shower, we hit the pavement.

I have been eagerly anticipating the weather cooling off so we could enjoy this activity together. Since that hasn't happened, we just went for a quick spin before dark. And since I couldn't see his face, I had no idea if he was entertained. He wasn't yelling "get down" which is one of his favorite phrases, so I assumed all was well. Once I felt the burn we turned back. I should explain that I haven't been on my bike but a few times since this little man was born. I wanted to be able to walk tomorrow! Apparently he was really having a blast b/c when I stopped he went into full meltdown mode. I wish we had taken a pic b/c he was seriously upset. Nothing comforted him...not a promise of more bike riding tomorrow or even a cookie. We finally had to pull out the big gun we call Jack. He fixes almost anything.

Milo hearts Leo

Owen got Leo for Christmas last year, and has really enjoyed playing with him. Lately, Milo isn't content to sit in the rocker in Owen's room...he has taken to laying on Leo's head to get even closer to the window. Owen thinks Milo is the funniest dog ever and had to be part of this photo op.

Say Cheese

Earlier tonight I was trying to get some new pics for this here blog. When you force yourself to take pics for the sole purpose of updating your blog, you should probably have your head checked. This bad idea was confirmed when Owen would not slow down long enough to have his picture taken. Here he is running, yes, running past me saying CHEESE!

Backyards and Boo-Boos

It hasn't been an ideal week in The Owen Zone. He is cutting at least two teeth, possibly three, and with that always comes a cold with fever. Which in turn brings wacky nap times, waking during the night, and general crabbiness.

Let me back up. Last weekend he was on the changing table and dropped one of my watches onto his face. This resulted in black eye #1. A few days ago, just as that was going away, he tripped and hit his other eye on a plastic pitcher, resulting in black eye #2. He was feeling better Friday, so we went over to see Papa and ride the "tractor". We were only there for 15 minutes when he fell on the cement and skinned his knee. He didn't cry so either it didn't hurt or he's getting used to pain.

Here he is blowing me a kiss...

Hopefully next week will be fever and injury free.

Playtime with Milo

Owen really enjoys playing with the dogs. The main difference between the two is that Milo plays back. This is probably why Owen calls both of them Milo...and any other dog he comes across. He can say "Crash" but he points to both of them and says "Milo" regularly, no matter how many times we correct him.

This morning Milo was laying in the dining area and Owen laid down beside him. Please ignore the dog hair. I promise we vacuum every single day.

What not to wear

Owen has been rockin' the hat/bookbag look for a while now, but recently he added in these Elmo booties. We think he went one step too far. That one's for you Sarah!

Schroeder

Brig snapped this pic of our little Schroeder while I was at work one day. It's not the clearest photo ever, but...

1. Piano...check.
2. Tuft of blonde hair...check.
3. Striped shirt...check.

See the resemblance?
