Tricycle Time

We've had one nice day this month and were finally able to try out Owen's new tricycle. It was a Christmas gift from Uncle Jamie, Aunt Riza and J.J. But until this day, the 16th I believe, the weather did not permit us going for a ride outside.

What we should have taken pictures of was me trying to put this thing together with Owen as my assistant. It took 3x as long as it should have. He's definitely interested in tools and I plan to use that to my advantage one day. :)

I didn't order this

When I came home from work one day last week, Owen was working in his restaurant. He immediately made Brig and I sit down for dinner. Even Cookie Monster was invited.

We had broccoli, a cookie,

PB & J and some milk. We ate on top of the turtle and Owen ate on the plane.

On a nasty note...Owen has had a cold since January 8th. It was finally getting better when one morning he woke up with gross green stuff (yes, that's a technical term) coming out of his right eye. Then his nose started running again and the other eye got gooey. We had enough and took him to the doctor this morning. Not only does he have another ear infection, but he has double bacterial pink eye. He is on his third antibiotic since Thanksgiving. I must go and wash my hands now.

Mr. Independent

Have I mentioned Owen's favorite phrase is "Owen do it"?

Neither the turtle desk nor the stool usually reside in this spot. He really wanted to turn the light on, so he took it upon himself to solve the problem. Maybe we've been watching too much Imagination Movers?

Normally I would have either told him to get down immediately, or I would have physically removed him myself. I think this is one of those times where you can't help but laugh to yourself (or out loud). Sometimes you just have to give in and I chose to take pics and let him do his thing.

Mission accomplished!

How many is too many?

We knew that once Santa brought presents, we would have to purge and merge the new toys with the older ones. To my delight, World Market was having a huge furniture sale and we got a new bookcase for Owen's room that matches his current bookcase. The old bookcase houses all his books, but the new one went in the "toy corner" of his room. We added a few bins and now it looks much better, and is temporarily organized.

If you have a separate room for play, consider yourself lucky. We don't and won't until the market turns around. For now, Owen must play and live in the same space. We do have toys in the den, but if you know me at all, you know I prefer things picked up and put away. Not so easy when you have a toddler who can destroy a room in a few short minutes. Bonus points if you can find Crash and Milo in the mix. Double points if you can tell which one is which!

***Note: These pics do not represent the before or after, but rather the middle of the process. I failed to take a before shot and keep forgetting to take an after, so here you go. This has been in my draft folder for a week and it couldn't sit there any longer.

It's still the new year, right?

So, this is slightly overdue. Getting back to work and our normal routine after the break has not been easy. On top of that, Brig and I started eating better and exercising and that's not exactly fun. But I do think it's time for both of us to drop this baby weight, don't you? I mean, Owen is nearly two.

On New Year's Eve we went over to my parents house and picked some pig with most of my family. After we went home and put Owen down, my mom came over and we headed over to the Daniel's for more celebration. We didn't leave here until after 10 and left there to come home shortly after the start of 2010.

Later that day, we had lunch again with my family. After nap time we headed over to the Swift's so the kids could finally exchange Christmas presents. I couldn't resist taking a few pics while we were there.
