Kite flying and t-ball practice

Although we would have been happier with more sun, the temps this weekend were wonderful.  Owen insisted on flying his kite even though it wasn't windy enough and we certainly don't have enough room to get a kite flying.  He was overjoyed anyway.  And the best part were no mosquitoes!  Hallelujah!

He also worked on his t-ball skills.  We keep thinking about signing him up for something, but don't want to commit with the baby coming in four (holy moly!) weeks.  Maybe in the spring.

We are raising a giant

We spent the better part of Sunday looking for shoes for this kid.  He's always had extra-wide feet but now they are growing like crazy.

We bought him two pairs about a month ago, sort of back-to-school shoes, and they were still in the bag/boxes until last week.  We wanted to get him another pair since he is going to school four days a week.

We struck out at the outlet and finally found one pair at Dick's in West Ashley and two pairs at Ross of all places.  Last week he wore an 11 and this week it's a 13!  Hopefully his growth spurt is done for now and he can wear these for a few months.

First day of school and a minor accident

Owen's first day of school was on Tuesday.  Like I said in the previous post, this is his third year at St. Paul's and he is a "tiger".

Brig always has hearings on Tuesday mornings so I usually take him on the first day.  This year she didn't so we all went together.  He was still a little clingy, but Ms. Patty took his hand, we said goodbye and off we went.  I headed to work and Brig headed home.

Less than five minutes later she called and said someone had hit her car while she was sitting at a stoplight.  I was right around the corner and got there quickly.  She and the baby are fine but we went to the doctor just to make sure.  It wasn't bad and the car damage is minimal.  It was scary for a minute, especially if you know us and remember what happened the week of the wedding.  Luckily she (and the car) fared much better this time around.  Only six weeks to go!

Meet the teacher

Oops...just remembered I was going to change out the blog header last weekend.  I will have to add that to my to-do list.

Anyways, last Friday was meet-the-teacher at St. Paul's.  Owen is a "tiger" this year and as predicted, a little shy at first.  Ms. Lauren asked him to come and color and that was all it took.  As we were walking to the car, he said we could go home and wanted us to leave him there.

Petersons at Pawleys

After the race Saturday, we packed up and headed North.  We were going to meet up with the Petersons on Sunday who were staying at Pawleys Island.  Instead of driving up early Sunday morning, we decided to take a little trip and stay overnight.  After much debate, we decided to stay in Myrtle Beach so we could be close to "the rides" at Broadway at the Beach.  Big mistake!  We never made it to the rides because we ran out of time energy.  Instead we went to dinner and let Owen run around on the crowded beach for a few minutes.  Let me just say, Myrtle Beach is not the same as Litchfield/Pawleys.  They are right down the road from each other, but MB is a whole different (disgustingly dirty) world.  Live and learn!

The next day we had breakfast at the hotel and headed to Pawleys.  We did go down to the beach for a little while, but none of those pics turned out.  These were taken by Brian on the back porch and dock.  I borrowed them from their blog.

Owen had a really great time with Evan and Hollan and we wish we could see them more than once every two years.  Even though Owen looks like Evan's big brother, he's only one day older.  Thanks again for having us!
