Epcot (Disney post #4)

I might be done posting these Disney pics by the time we go again.  There have been several times I have almost just posted the pics with no description or account of our trip.

That would be easy and quick, but that defeats the purpose of this blog.  This is our digital scrapbook and I want to be able to look back on it one day and recall the details we will inevitably forget.

Now, we went to Epcot on Tuesday, and the first person thing we see is Stitch.  Just so happens Owen has his Stitch with him at the time.  My camera lens is foggy due to the humidity, so please forgive this shot...

but then it was straightened out by the time he met Daisy...

Grammie, Brig and I rode Test Track and then we stood in line to meet the whole gang.  I don't think introductions are necessary...

We headed over to Mexico to ride the boat, aka The Three Caballeros ride.

Then we made our way over to Italy b/c our big meal of the day was at Tutto Italia.  Again, totally awesome meal.  Mine was great,  but Brigette's was even better.

After lunch, we ran into Sleeping Beauty.  She and Owen had a nice chat and he got another kiss from a princess...

We walked through the remaining countries and were heading for the exit.  Owen said we couldn't leave before he rode in "the big golf ball".  Well, he fell asleep half way through the ride.  I picked him up, put him in the stroller, put him in the tram, put him in the car and eventually put him in the bed.  He never woke up.

It started pouring down rain and since we didn't have dinner plans, we decided to take a break and eat at the resort.

Hollywood Studios (Disney post #3)

Monday night after dinner we headed to Hollywood Studios (which I still call MGM).  There isn't much for Owen to do there, but we really wanted to do the Toy Story ride.  Of course the wait was 60 minutes and there were no more fast passes left.  We were discouraged until we turned to see the Buzz and Woody meet-and-greet.  We got in line quickly, right before the rain started.  It was 30 minutes before we made it to the front, but it was totally worth the wait.

We were going to leave until a  Disney castmember came up to us and told us there was a dance party in Mickey's clubhouse.  Apparently this is not something they have all the time, but it was Extra Magic Hours.  For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a special time either in the morning or at night where the parks open early or stay open late just for Disney Resort guests.

It was fun to watch all the kids dance around and I thought it was just okay until this guy showed up...what a surprise!

Handy Manny!

I didn't get a shot of Owen dancing with him b/c I was having trouble with the camera, but I think you can see his excitement in this one...

I was so happy he got to meet (and dance) with Handy Manny.  After he left, my mom took Owen to the front to dance with some clown (literally) named Jojo.  I have no idea who that is, but less than a minute later these two popped in...

Mickey!

Minnie!
Dance Party!  Yippee!!

Stuff Owen says

Tonight we were reading Peter Pan and Owen said, "Daddy, that's John.  He has an umbrella.  It helps us when the rain comes".

Also, Brig said this morning when she went to get him up he said he had been up since 2:00.  And that the "sunrise" woke him up.  Apparently when the sun rises, it's time to get up.  Good to know.  I am usually sitting at work before the sun rises.  Does this mean I can wait until the sun rises to get up tomorrow?  I hope my boss understands.

Animal Kingdom (Disney post #2)

The next day (Monday) we got to Animal Kingdom right after it opened.  We trekked all the way to the back of the park to go on safari.  It was the coolest part of the day and the line was short.  Owen really enjoyed checking out the animals here and on the walking trails.  AK is very shady in spots, so that was a nice break from the heat.

After nap, we went back to AK for dinner at Yak and Yeti and it was d-to-the-licious.  Seriously, you have to go if you can.  Like, get up right now and head to Orlando.  The dessert was the best part.  Here is the description from the menu...Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle

Are you hungry yet?

First trip to Disney (post #1)

We are back!  Well, we've been back,  but spent Saturday doing laundry and yesterday cleaning and painting.  For some reason I decided to start painting the dining room/den right before we left...guess our lives weren't busy enough already!  It takes a while to go through all the photos I took and you guys (all three of you who read this blog) will probably see more of them than you would like.  Before I start with the trip details I would like to say that the Disney experience is so different when seen through the eyes of your child.

Anyway...

We left pretty close to on time last Saturday morning.  Although he didn't sleep much, Owen was really good in the car.  No car sickness!  We got to the hotel, unpacked as little as possible (b/c we were moving again in the a.m.) and went to Downtown Disney.  We ate at the Earl of Sandwich and did some shopping.  Owen slept in a big boy bed for the first time and did great.  In fact, he slept great all week and never tried to climb out or around the two bed rails.

The next morning we checked out of the hotel and headed to our resort.  We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort in the Jamaica section.  Our rooms were (of course) not ready, so we headed to Magic Kingdom.

Every time I go to Disney, I forget how hard it is to get to MK.  What was Walt thinking?  We decided to take the Ferry since I thought Owen would like that and I knew we would be riding the monorail many more times during our trip.  As soon as we entered the park we saw Snow White.  She talked to Owen forever and even gave him a kiss.

He then met Pluto, Pinocchio and Donald Duck.

The first ride we rode was Dumbo and Owen was hooked.  We wanted his first ride to be Small World but it was closed for refurbishment.  That morning we rode several more rides including Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan.  We saw the Celebration Parade (Sarah...pls correct me if that's not the name) and the Dreams Come True show in front of Cinderella's Castle.

Be back with post numero dos soon...

My kid says the darndest things

I'm working on a Disney mega post, but I just had to post something Owen just said.

We were talking about what he wanted to be for Halloween.  For the last few days his choice was a witch, but just now he said Spiderman.  Then he said, "Mommy, is Spiderman a boy or a cat?"  Of course, she said he was a boy who turns into a spider.

Be back soon with some Disney pics.

Disney or bust!

It's finally here!  We are leaving in a few hours.  Hopefully our trip will be quick and sickness free.  I put the Twitter feed back on the right sidebar...I plan to update that way if I don't have time to update this way.  Wish us luck!
