it's a wild life

Since last time, we've encountered some interesting things at our house.  Is that not the craziest caterpillar you've ever seen?

I didn't put him on my shorts, but rather found him there after moving an old planter.  A few days after this, we came home to find a baby bird (dead) on our deck and a snake (very much alive) on our front porch.  I didn't take a pic of either.  You're welcome.

Oliver turned six months old last week.  Can you believe our baby is half way to his first birthday?  He is eating veggies and tried his first fruit this weekend. So far, he loves them all!  He prefers to sit up, but is still working on not falling back or to the side.  He improves a little more each week.

We're pretty sure he is saying "ma-ma", "da-da" and "ba-ba" which is what we call his bottle.  He is very aware of when we're eating, and gets upset when he doesn't get any.  We're going for his well check on Thursday, so I'll be back with his stats.

He loves to be outside

First wagon ride for Mr. Serious

And he likes bath time too

Then there's this guy who's warming up to his swing set since I've been killing the carpenter bees.

He finished his first soccer season last week.  He ended the season the same way he started it...by making another goal!  He says he had fun but doesn't want to play next year.  I was a little upset he didn't get a trophy, but rather this crappy certificate.

Apparently that's up to the coach, but we didn't know that until it was said and done.  We would have been more than happy to pay for a trophy.

We also celebrated Dylan's birthday

It wasn't that hot when we first got there, but there was a jump castle so the kids played the entire time.  Owen asked Brigette if we brought his sunglasses.  When she said "no", he asked to wear hers.  This is up there with the funniest pics we have of him.

Easter weekend

Taste tester...he gave it two thumbs up!

Newborn chick

Dyeing eggs...this was right before Owen spilled the entire cup of red dye on his pants/shoes.  It even soaked through and stained his legs.

Ashleigh, Grammie and Oliver

Owen and Oliver with the Easter Bunny.

The whole gang.  I can imagine know for sure how hot it is in there and how hard it is to breathe.  It was all worth it to see the looks on their faces.

NRA Meeting

Mommy and Oliver.  This may be their first picture together.  Sad, I know...he's almost six months old.

The big pool is being refurbished, so the little pool had to do.

What a beautiful weekend!

the house that dad built

It took longer than I wanted, but the swing set/clubhouse/fort construction is complete.  Actually, it's been done, but Owen is scared of the carpenter bees who like to dig holes in our fence, so it's taken time for him to understand they don't sting.  I've tried to kill deal with them, but if they continue to be a nuisance, then we may have to get something stronger.  Our eco-friendly spray doesn't phase them.  It smells like cinnamon and I guess they like that.

The cedar smells as good as it looks, but it makes our fence look worse than it did before.  The house is getting a bath on Monday and hopefully the fence and deck will too.
